You think you have the solution....

You slowly walk up to the desk to see who's on duty. Just your luck. It's soon-to-retire Sergeant Mulcahey. He never exactly had a retiring personality
...you can still feel the bruise on your jaw. But what's a little pummeling between long-time friends?

"So Mulcahey...about that crime off Old Highway 23."

"First, about that bar room brawl...."

"Heck, it was nothing. I hope I didn't dent your fist with my jaw."

He grinned. "It was worth it to me. You almost broke my neck. "

"I guess you don't need to worry about that cane quite yet."

"I won't. Well, since you ask, I was there first at the scene of the crime.  The victim was shot through the heart at close range.  Not much else I can tell you.  Oh, the murder weapon was found on the scene wiped free of fingerprints.  It was untraceable."

"So, you're going to buy me dinner after this one is over, just to be polite, right?"

"Only if you send your hot tips back to us, Hotshot."

"Well, you know, I'll just work on that, Mulcahey."

(If you are missing something in this conversation, you may not have had enough to drink.)
